Introduction to Issue 52 • Dragons

Like many creatures, dragons have evolved over time. Their scales, temperament, and wingspan vary across regions and continents. Humans know the salty claws of the mother-of-all, a legless serpent trickster in the grass, and flying bringers of rain, creatures who refuse to take the same shape two days in a row.

In this issue of Eye to the Telescope, we get to enjoy the diversity we expect from dragons as the writers introduce us to characters we do not expect. These dragons are fierce, tame, frigid, weathered, erudite, hoarding, snuggle-able, and more. These poems don’t let science get in the way of what’s possible: they sing deeper truths.
